Do we need a permit to elope on Oʻahu?

Almost always, yes, and it is one of the things people are most surprised by. A photography permit does not cover the ceremony itself, so those are two separate things. State beaches use a WIKI permit, which can often be turned around quickly. State parks need a Special Use Permit submitted 45 days ahead, so if you have your heart set on a park, we need to start early. I handle this as part of planning, so it is sorted before your date.

How do we get a marriage license in Hawaiʻi?

It is more straightforward than most people expect, and you do not have to figure it out alone. I will put you in touch with one of my preferred officiants, who walks couples through the license process all the time and can answer it properly for your situation and your timing.

Can you recommend an officiant?

Yes. I have officiants I have worked with and trust, and I am happy to introduce you. They are also the best people to ask about the marriage license, so it is usually one conversation rather than two.

Can you help us pick a location?

Yes. Tell me the feeling you want, whether that is cliffside, a quiet beach, or somewhere green, and I will send you options that work for your date and your light.

What time of day should we plan for?

Sunrise and sunset are the two windows worth building around, and which one is right depends on which side of the island you choose. Once I have your date, I will give you the exact times.

How many people can come and still be an elopement?

Up to about 10. That is less a rule than a practical limit. Elopement coverage runs 1 to 2 hours, and once you are past ten people, group photos start eating the time you wanted for the two of you. If your guest list is bigger than that, you are planning a small wedding rather than an elopement, and the wedding collections are built for it. Either way, tell me your number and I will point you at the right one.
